Alcatel has announced the next generation of switching platforms for the enterprise. The OmniSwitch 7000 series and the OmniSwitch 8800 are high-capacity switching platforms designed for core, wiring closet, and edge implementations.
These new platforms are built from the ground up for IP Communications and convergence, and feature carrier-class availability, smart continuous switching, distributed multi-layer security, intelligent switching/routing, embedded server load balancing, dynamic mobility, and simplified “OneTouch” manageability. Key features include unprecedented port density, advanced QoS capabilities with OneTouch QoS, distributed architecture, and carrier-class functionality – all at enterprise costs.
